Someone Attempted To Pull A Travel Scam On Me Today

I answered my cell, even though I didn't recognize the number. I only did it because I'm expecting an order and sometimes the delivery people will call. It was a woman offering me a free vacation to stay at Embassy Suites. She said with an enthusiastic voice "Now doesn't that sound good?" I said with a dry voice "No..I've been through this before and I'm not interested". At least she had the decency to say "Alright ma'am. You have a nice day". About a year or so ago when I let a similar scammer know I was on to him, he just hung up on me. He had a very distinctive voice and called me twice pretending to be from our timeshare,

Have you gotten similar calls offering a free vacation stay at a hotel or free airline tickets (or a combo of both)?

I'm very lucky that I don't receive these types of calls but I don't have a landline. I was receiving tons of calls about car warranties on my cell phone many months ago, but they seem to have died down. Hopefully someone regulated that industry.

I have a friend who is 95 that I visited several years ago. She had just received a solicitation call on her landline, said "Go to H***" and slammed down the phone. I want to be like her when I grow up!

I usually get a phone call about my VISA charge card (which I do not have). I ALWAYS press "8" talk to the Visa rep. (from India) and read from my handy list of Indian swear words. The list is from one of my Indian friends - she laughed when I told her the reason for the list !!

I haven't had a landline in 5 years but I still get spam calls. Most of the time my cell identifies them as such and I don't pick up. This call came from N.J. (my state) and sometimes I will pick those calls up in case they are legit. A couple of weeks ago I didn't and it turned out to be the UPS driver letting me know he was here. Luckily listened to my messages right after that, ran to the outside door and was able to get my package. He was going to the building next door. I called out to him but he didn't hear me and my upstairs neighbor went up to him and told him I was at the door.

I just got a call on my landline a couple of days ago, I usually don't pick up, but I was expecting a call and didn't look at the ID. Guy with heavy accent, probably from another country, asking me if I got my 2023 Medicare card yet, knew right off he was another scammer. I said nooo?

He said he was sorry, they were late sending them out, and he'd get one to me right away. Then he asked for my address. I jumped on him telling him I wasn't giving anyone like him my information, if Medicare ever needs to contact me, they know how. He hung up. Told my husband that unfortunately there are older folks who would fall for this and get in trouble.

I have a list of diseases that I keep next to my phone.
Sometimes, when I'm in the mood, when I get a sales call that starts with, "Hello, how are you today?"
I'll say, "Well, I have cancer, heart disease, erectile dysfunction & hemorrhoids. How are you today?"
Several seconds of complete silence. :ROFLMAO:
