Someone stole my bike...

I probably shouldn’t tell this, but just to show you that there are thieves everywhere, I was in the “Flight Crews Only” section in the airport in Phoenix at Sky Harbor International Airport and was filling out my paperwork before boarding my flight. I laid my paperwork and a very expensive pen my wife bought for me for Christmas and only two weeks later I laid the pen on the desk where I had all my maps, runway charts, etc. laid out of my flight bag because I was early and decided to clean it out of stuff I no longer needed.

I was wanting to do that for some time. I went over to the coffee urn and picked up a cinnamon roll and a cup of coffee. I wasn’t gone, but maybe 3 minutes because someone stopped me just to say Hi and where was I off to and when I returned the pen was gone.

Needless to say, I was livid. You would have thought someone just stole my wallet. I finally calmed down and made an announcement that I didn’t know or care who did it, but if they give it to the gate agent at wherever my plane was parked, I wouldn’t say anything to United. Otherwise, I am going to let United know that we have a thief among us.

When I got to my gate, the gate agent said some pilot dropped this off and asked if I would give it to you. I thanked her very much and gave her a $10 bill for her honesty. She didn’t want it, but I did get her to take it. No, I never asked if she knew the pilot or what he looked like. I didn’t want to know.
