Something Meaningful for Caregivers and Future Caregivers

I just wanted to leave this post for others who find themselves gradual caregivers. That is your partner, parent, child is diagnosed with a progressive but perhaps not fatal disease. It can be too devastating to properly register. Someone you love and who has perhaps cared for you in the past...is going to fall apart gradually...you also might find gallows humor helpful. If you can laugh you don't cry so much. I can tell hubby with a straight face " Okay, I'm tired so when we get home you're running both dogs". He can barely wobble the supermarket now but he still keeps going.

The thing I want to share is doing something special for yourself. If it's early in the diagnosis you might have several years before things get really difficult, some years ahead to make financial plans. But while you can think of something for yourself. Utterly selfish and frivolous that is just for YOU. I got three tattoos this year. The rest were over a forty year period, but these three might be the last-never say never;) But I look at them everyday and smile. Get compliments from strangers too. I might have much on my plate. But just maybe $ 200 for instant happy. I know in the future money will be for food and keeping a roof over our heads...but just one thing for yourself...good advice there.
