Sometimes I do not understand the machinations of this site

Yeah
My threads, or anybody's threads, are not an issue

It's the comments that are a tad cumbersome
even with my newly garnered info of going beyond 25 pages, it's a bit
s-l-o-w

Here's a challenge to you search gurus;

Months ago...maybe a year or more, I posted a comment on a dog thread

There's a lot of dog threads

this pic was involved

View attachment 340218

I got tired of scrolling the many threads

anybody up for the challenge?

per Gary...Yeah
my threads, or anybody's threads, are not an issue...

*Gary but for some others it might be...

All good things in life don't come always so easy, so if you want to really
locate that post, take your time and start looking...

I am not up for the challenge but others may be, I am too busy on 'chat'
right now.

Happened immediately again.
In looking for a post, I inputted - What were you really into when you were a kid?

Got this response
The following words were not included in your search because they are too short, too long, or too common: were, you, really, into, when, you, were, a, kid
@ Bretrick

Are you referring to this topic of yours? Same one?

What were you really into when you were a child?

At every opportunity I would go up into the hills surrounding my home town.
Away from people, catching snakes and frogs, trying to pick up echidnas, going out onto the dam on my homemade raft, built with boy scout skills. Loved my childhood in the thickly wooded West Coast of Tasmania.
It is a delight that has stayed with me my whole life.

I know what you mean B. I've inputted words that I know are in a thread, sometimes very close to the title and the thread still doesn't come up in the search. @palides2021 Checking under "Your content" doesn't work so well if one posts and replies a lot or if the thread is fairly old.

Sorry folks, I don't have much to add, I even learned some tips from this thread.

Finding a specific old post is tricky, try to add as many criteria as possible. Using a not-very-common word is the key, make sure you spell it exactly the same, the forum search doesn't tolerate any differences.

We also have Google custom search, Google search understands the content better and sorts the results by popularity and relevance, but unfortunately it doesn't cover the whole site. It's more useful if you want to find popular threads on certain topics, or check if a topic has been discussed.
