somewhere around 2am

Remember when... thirty seemed so old.
I wake up and can't get back to sleep and my mind starts to wonder about crazy things.

Things like... how do dragons blow out candles?

or... If you surprise an atheist, do they say "oh my God"?

or...If poison is past it's expiration date, is it more poisonous, or is it no longer poisonous?

Then it gets worse... which letter is silent in the word scent?

Any of you have the same problem?

Nope, when I wake up I get up and putter around for a few hours, sometimes I go back to bed for a second sleep and sometimes I'm up for the day.

Mine is 4 AM...

Always things from the past on my mind..

I counter it with some stupid game in my head to wash it away....

I'm a night owl and I'm usually up until around 2 a.m. But if I have trouble falling asleep occasionally, I'm usually fretting over past events and regrets that I cannot change. It's really aggravating and hard to "turn off the brain" when it happens.

I keep a tiny am/fm analog radio under my pillow, whenever I'm awake and don't fall asleep right away, I put on an am talk show, I soon fall asleep with the radio on. I keep it quiet enough not to disturb my husband, works out well.

My sleeping habits are all over the place. Sometimes I read until the wee hours of the morning, then sleep until 9am. Other times I fall asleep instantly and sleep for an hour, wake up and lay in bed awake for hours rehashing most every detail of my life. Achy knees and acid reflux just adds to the mess. To get a good nights sleep I take my hubby's Ambien. Bad stuff and I'm sure I'm hooked but at 73 I could care less. Whatever works.

I get 4 AM moments of enlightenment, where I sit straight up in bed and say, out loud, "Alright!" These occurrences have prompted me to do some great, and some less than great, things in my life. Most have been strongly positive.

I often wonder if Einstein had it wrong and E= Mc3.Now that would shake up science!
