Son in-law run down by hit and run driver

Such distressing news.
Being released from hospital is good news. Let us all hope that he continues to improve and gets back to full health.
A moment of madness by the driver will see him imprisoned for life I hope. Must get these people away from the populace.

I can only tell you that if a person shoots themself in the front of the head is a whole lot better than being shot in the side of the head. As the coroner has explained it to us, there is more protection to the brain from an injury to the front of the head that there is to the side or back of the head.

I have gone to attempted suicides where the person has shot themself in the front of the head and survived.

I hope your s-i-l has no ill bad after effects and has a normal recovery. Having cameras has made police work much easier to capture bad things that goes on in the communities. I have cameras around my house and even a simple camera like a doorbell camera can help catch a bad guy. There’s a camera out on the market called “blink” and there’s no monitoring charge. They make them for outdoors.

Thanks to all for your words of caring and concern. Here is the press release on the arrest, it has been published now in the Yucaipa News Mirror so I can feel comfortable sharing the un-redacted version here:

The article didn't include witness account(s). The initial thread post says "A car came roaring up the street fast, street racers are a problem there. Shawn waved his arms at the guy to slow down. The car went up the road a bit, then turned around. The driver aimed the car at Shawn, flashing the headlights and honking the horn, Shawn was knocked to the ground, and the driver sped off."

So somebody nearby must have seen something, because apparently Shawn didn't remember the incident (at least during his stay in the hospital). Or am I missing something.

Maybe the reporter or editor didn't want to disclose any more, at this time, in the newspaper?

This is what Shawn's wife Sara relayed to us. Perhaps when the shock-horror and stress has subsided a bit for Sara, she may provide more detail. The newspaper article just reported verbatim the wording in the Sheriff's Department's press release.

@911, Thanks, since this happening I've been thinking that installing some well placed cameras would be a good idea. We have a Ring alarm system, but I don't want to put more money into it, plus I am trying to keep Amazon from completely running my life.

This is a good idea Nathan. There are many great wi fi ones as well as wired ones. There are pros and cons to both. We have both types. We have a combination of both. You can run your own alarm system very easily.

My thoughts are with your family.
How are ‘you’ feeling?
Are you ok?

It's a big relief that Shawn is home and that the driver is in jail, awaiting justice. This all has been a timely reminder(once again) that life can abruptly change without warning.
