Talking impersonations, we were pruning our kiwifruit orchard, this is going back a few years now, and we heard a phone ringing, we weren't close enough to our house to hear ours, so we looked all round thinking it must be someone with a cell phone. But there was nobody there, so we turned off.
When walking back to the house for lunch we heard a phone ringing again, so we stopped and decided to check it out. It sounded like it was coming from something high up, we looked up into the shelter trees and there was a thrush ''ringing' to his hearts content.
We heard it off and on for a few days, if you stop and listen to the birds you often hear them copying noises that they pick up on, even sirens.

Our Magpies used to 'do' ambulance sirens. We lived near a hospital and sometimes the Maggies would throw their heads back and answer the 'call' of a passing one. Not all of them though, they all sounded the same to me but not apparently to the Magpies.
