Song lyrics that make one go, Hmmmmmm?

How many of us pay attention to song lyrics? Most of us I suppose.
Alice Cooper released a song in 1975 titled,
"Only Women Bleed"
It does not get a lot of air play because of the mistaken belief that it is referring to Women's, That time of the Month.
It is in fact about a woman in an abusive relationship.

Man got his woman to take his seed
He got the power, She got the need
She spends her life through pleasing up her man
she feeds him dinner or anything she can
She cries alone at night too often
he smokes and drinks and don't come home at all
Black eyes all of the time
don't spend a dime clean up this grime
And you there down on your knees
begging me please come watch me bleed.

When I try to interpret the lyrics, was Mr Cooper writing about the frailty of women?
Or the strength of Women ?
The song evokes empathy from me by highlighting the pain and suffering some Women face throughout their lives.
Alice Cooper - Only Women Bleed

Those lyrics to me suggest women bleed more than what people thought this was about.
When they live in an abusive relationship, it strips away (makes them bleed) their self-worth,
their faith, their ability to think for themselves, their dreams and has them living off an emotional
fear based life "how can I please him today", will it anger him if I do/don't do this or that. She bleeds
her inner self dry and becomes a shell of who she was.
That is how I take those lyrics.

When released many women thought is was degrading to women when in fact it was putting out there all the hassles women have to go through just to get through life.

Melancholy Memories
.

"There are places I'll remember, - All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better, - Some have gone and some remain.
All these places had their moments, - With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead, and some are living, - In my life, I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers, - There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning, - When I think of love as something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection, - For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them, - In my life, I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection, - For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them, - In my life, I love you more

So often ~ the truth ...
"
Once I believed that when love came to me - It would come with rockets, bells and poetry
But with me and you - It just started quietly and grew

And believe it or not - Now, there's somethin' groovy and good 'bout whatever we got
And it's gettin' better - Growin' stronger - Warm and wilder - Gettin' better every day, better every day

I don't feel all turned on and starry-eyed - I just feel a sweet contentment deep inside
Holdin' you at night - Just seems kind of natural and right
And it's not hard to see - That it isn't half of what it's gonna to turn out to be

'Cause it's gettin' better - Growin' stronger - Warm and wilder
Gettin' better every day, better every day

GUITAR MAN
"
Who draws the crowd and plays so loud - Baby it's the guitar man
Who's gonna steal the show - You know, baby, it's the guitar man
He can make you love
He can make you cry
He will bring you down
Then he'll get you high
Somethin' keeps him goin' - Miles and miles a day - To find another place to play

Night after night who treats you right - Baby, it's the guitar man
Who's on the radio - You go listen to the guitar man
Then he comes to town -
And you see his face
And you think you might
Like to take his place
Somethin' keeps him driftin' - Miles and miles away - Searchin' for the songs to play

Then you listen to the music - And you like to sing along
You want to get the meaning- Out of each and every song
Then you find yourself a message - And some words to call your own ~~~ And take them home
He can make you love
He can get you high
He will bring you down
Then he'll make you cry
Somethin' keeps him movin' - But no one seems to know - What it is that makes him go
Then the lights begin to flicker
And the sound is getting dim - The voice begins to falter
And the crowds are getting thin
But he never seems to notice
He's just got to find another place to play - Fade away
Got to play - Fade away - Got to play"
