Oh wow. This is the first song I thought of... Elton's Rocket Man. I found a link for it and was going to post before I saw yours, @Jazzy1 .
I had planned to say that it's always been debated whether it's about drug addiction or the isolation of being alone (compared to an astronaut.) It could be a metaphor for either.

I won't post another version but I got a kick out of seeing that as your song... I had only seen the thread title previously.
