Sowing a packet of seeds.

Everytime I open a drawer in the sideboard I come across a packet of Godetia seeds that a friend gave me.
I'm not a knowledgeable gardener, and sowing seeds to many folk may be easy, but I've always bought plants growing in pots.
Anyway, I've got seed trays, compost and this little packet of seeds, will they grow I wonder?
Watch this space, and if they don't grow (which is highly likely) I'll tell you, but if they do grow, you'll never hear the end of it. :)

Do you know in what season they're supposed to show best results? I once planted French marigolds from a seed packet and I was that surprised when they blossomed in September! You could try the egg carton method where you put a little soil in each egg holder of the carton and place a few seeds into each & when you see little shoots coming up you can transplant them.

Never heard of Godetia but they look beautiful. I've never grown anything from seed either, hope they work for you, if they do I might get some too.

Here are directions on planting seeds and how to care for them. Good luck. They are beautiful. I’d never heard of them before. Just make sure they are good for your zone or they may turn into annuals instead of perennials.

What type of godetia are they?
They won’t winterize in my area ; only in BC which has the mildest weather so check your garden zoning.

The packet should have sowing directions. You can buy potting soil. If the seeds are old they may not all sprout. I usually put some soil in a sifter to sort out any twigs or clumps and put that on top of the seeds which makes sprouting easier.

I have sprouted my own seeds for like 40 years. It is a pain in the neck. I have some growing now in Seed Starting Medium comes in 8 qt bags. Mine are doing ok, but are spindly looking and I started them in February. Sure they'll sprout and grow...then die for no reason. Don't feel bad if that happens, some kind of natural selection going on. Put the ones that live outside for 2 weeks before transplanting them to a permanent location. Hope you don't get all one color. I hate when that happens.
