We have a dying mall or two around here and it's scary to think about how busy they used to be and basically in hospice now waiting for the doors to close one last time.
Over simplified but malls became so expensive for the stores then the customers they priced themselves out of existence. I knew the malls were dead in the 1990s when many starting allowing flea market type shows ie collectibles, cars etc which used to be a no no because the stores wanted no distractions for customers.
