Thanks for reminding me!! I used to have a pal was a dang good drummer and he could play some mean spoons. And then there is Ham Bone, which is another Po' Boy way to make music without a regular sorta musical instrument.
I was born in Philadelphia, but moved to CA at an early age. When I was living in AZ on the Colorado River I met a guy who was born in South Philly mighty close to the neighborhood I was moved from to CA many years before. We became good friends. He was Irish, a Mick if you will, and I am Italian---Lots of Irish and Italians settled there in Philadelphia as did Black Folks.
Long story short, he spent time in the streets of Philadelphia with the Black kids where playing spoons and doing Ham Bone was pretty common. He taught me Ham Bone, and I got good at it!
I had forgotten all about me and The Ham Bone, and by golly your video brought it back to mind!
Now I just gotta see if I still have it down!! Thanks.
