SS benefits on a spousal work record.

We just got signed up, me on my own work record. My wife applied on my work record also as she didn't have the required 40 credits for her own. Mine was approved /started, then she applied. The one odd ball thing to be aware of is that even though she applied online on my record her application was denied as if she applied on her own record, several days later she was approved on my record, her benefit amount and start payment date shown, etc . It looks very odd to see both the denial and approval on the same screen! Anyways, wanted to pass that along to save someone a little anxiety during the process.

Thank you, that is good to know as my wife and I will be doing this in early January 2026. She does currently get SSDI and so when I claim, she will clain spousal benefits off of my record, and should get the difference between her SSDI and spousal benefits as a "dual" add on to her current SSDI paycheck. At least that is my understanding after a lot of research on it. But good to know that she might see a denial on her own record initially.
