Standard Time Returns (for those that have it)

I got all of mine done except the one in the car. I forgot it. I have seven also, counting the one in the car. When I am gone they are going to have a heck of a time figuring out how the set the grandfather clock. :D
Oh, I can only dream of being flummoxed over how to adjust the time on a grandfather clock!

How I envy you!!! Have dreamed of one day owning a grandfather clock since I was a kid! So grand and homey!

My SO's grandfather clock is the easiest one to reset. Just stop the pendulum for an hour, then restart it. Easy peasy. Resetting the other 11 clocks took maybe 5 minutes max.

I reset the clocks and changed the smoke detector batteries this morning. The only clock that required more than a few seconds was my old Timex digital wristwatch....a real PITA. I'll take a moment to set the car/truck clocks next time we drive somewhere.

Some of my clocks can easily be changed by just moving the hands. The KitKat clock I have to unplug an hour, the restart to change to Standard Time - the hands just wont move otherwise. Most other have a button or knob to adjust the time.

Anyone here have a semi in-depth understanding of the workings of manual wind-up clocks?

I have always wondered what damage, if any at all, results from the turning-back of manual wind-up clock movements.

I was raised with the understanding that wind-up watches and clocks should never have their hands turned back.
