Starbucks Coffee - love it or hate it? What about the Mermaid Logo

I like it but don't go very often. Never paid that much attention to the logo actually but just thought it was cool. We boycotted Starbucks for quite a while, and if we have the choice we go to Costa instead. Starbucks had found a way to legally pay very little tax in the UK despite making a fortune here. Their business here dropped a LOT, so they volunteered to pay a very large sum in tax.

I love the mermaid logo and have a few collector cups and things from the 90s. We had some problems here when Starbucks pushed out some smaller coffee establishments. I buy the coffee beans and grind my own.

I rarely drink it. If my daughter stops there and brings one home for me, I enjoy it, but not really much of a coffee drinker. Two cups of the old-fashioned kind made at home is what I drink every morning. Beyond that, I don't go out of my way to get coffee from Starbucks or anywhere else. Sigh. I'm such a boring person:(

I love their blonde roast but it's only an occasional treat. Coffee really doesn't like me and lets me know in a variety of uncomfortable ways. As for the logo, when we were in Seattle a couple months ago, we went to the very first Starbucks and I bought a mug with the original logo on it. The mermaid looked kinda tired in those days. Starbucks has had some ups and downs but overall they seem to be ok as giant corporations go.

I'm not a big fan of the fancy coffee drinks which are popular these days. I make a good cup right here at home with my Hamilton Beach one cup drip machine. I've never been in a Starbucks.
Hey you kids...get off my lawn!!!:eek:ld:

Starbucks coffee is good, but so is McDonald’s coffee (won taste tests over Starbucks) and White Castle coffee.

In the last 10 yrs I’ve been in Starbucks maybe 5 or 6 times. I bought a couple bags of their coffee in the store when it was on sale or if I had a coupon for a few dollars off. Once I was early for an appointment and the medical building hadn’t opened yet, so I went across the street and had a cup of coffee at Starbucks. The staff/workers – I mean baristas  – are nice, and the atmosphere is a nice place to sit and relax.

But there’s a Starbucks a couple blocks from where I live and I’ve never been there. I used to work with someone who could barely scratch together enough money for gas and lunch, yet he went to Starbucks every morning. It’s overpriced (imo) and I think a lot of people go there just to be trendy. I also understand some people like their fancy drinks. I’ve never tried those.

There is no Starbucks in my area. I have to go into the city or to the airport. I only have Starbucks or Costa coffee when traveling or when on a shopping trip to the city.

I actually like the taste of the McDonalds coffee better, I agree with SOP, too bitter for my taste buds, but then, I'm more of a coffee in my cream kind of gal to begin with, I do still dabble in it but, that's because it's the only coffee place near where I catch the Sat morning movies on Sat with my meetup friends group or other friends sometimes.

Not sure if I have ever had Starbucks. If I did, it didn't set off chimes and Angels singing.. But for me no coffee really does. I drink a cup to wake up in the morning... that's all it's good for IMO.
