The steel drums (or steel pan drums) were supposedly first made on Trinadad & Tobago back in the 1930's from old steel 55 gal. drums.....I really like their unique sound.

I love the sound. Reminds me of trips to the islands many years ago.

I like it, I think because it's 'happy' music.

I used to work with a guy that grew up in the islands...I think Trinidad ? He played steel-pan. He always said that the original pans [made from drums] still had the best sound?

This reminded me, in a way, of the Stomp musical performances. They make music with, oil drums, garbage cans, kitchen sinks, push brooms, wooden poles, hammer handles, inner tubes, zippo lighters, matchboxes, paper bags, etc.

L-o-v-e their shows, it's amazing the sounds they can make, so creative and a really fun show to watch.

I wanted to post a video, but my sound isn't working right now.
