Step on it..footwear-wise

My dream is to have custom-made shoes because I have rarely found any shoes that are comfortable for more than an hour or two, at most. Maybe one day. My hidden pleasure is handbags. I used to have a collection of bags from known designers and still have a few (but sold the majority of them) and have been replacing them with beautiful handmade ones.

Since not working, the heels are gone. I'm down to a few pairs of Sperry Topsiders, one pair of leather ballet - style flats (if I need anything dressy) and my $125 snow boot from 2018 (after moving north from TN, when we realized it was going to snow and neither of us had any boots) I think DH has more pairs than I do! Casual is the way we go any more.

@hollydolly I am trying to work out if you have more ankle boots and trainers than I do - it's close. Interesting that you have just two pairs of knee length boots which is the same as me as I seldom wear longer boots.
Trish there's 3 pairs of Long boots in that cupboard in the pic.. one of the boots is still in the wrapping... However I have 6 more pairs in the triple wardrobe in the spare room, because I can't get all the long ones in the boot cupboard.... I always pay more for my knee length boots than for the ankle boots..yet I wear them less often

As well as the trainers in the cupboard I've also got 7 more pairs of Trainers ..( just been and counted)... and 3 more pairs of ankle boots...

I can't tell you how many pairs of shoes and sandals I have unless I lift up the sleigh bed storage... but it's not as many as the Boots.. probably about 12... pairs because I gave a load to Charity..:D

Was just watching a TV show...a woman was chosen as best dressed...
she said what she paid for her outfit which included her shoes.

She said they cost $800/pr. (black slip-on with gold buckle and... chunky heel-1-1/2"h.?)

What do you think...about price?

What's the most you've very paid for a pair of shoes?

(You, too, guys!)
If they cost that much, they had better have red soles.

I stick to my collection of Crocs; I find them alot cheaper at stores like Marshalls and TJMaxx. Since I don't work any longer... I donated quite of few pairs of heels to Goodwill. They were in excellent if not new condition.

I do have a couple of leather flats but find them too binding.

@horseless carriage Your shoes are beautiful! Do you have them made for you?

Not vain at all! 🙂
Indeed I do, I use two artisans Simon James Cathcart and Colin Johnson Shoes. Both use top quality leather and fabrics. Simon is more of general manager, he outsources shoe manufacturer, but he keeps a close professional eye on every pair, it's his name after all. Colin I have known for probably something like thirty years. He's never disappointed.

For me, probably my work boots back in the day.
Usually, a pair of Red Wings or Carolina's.
Also, authorized combat boots, both Desert and standard black ( never could get used to issue ones )

I forbid myself from walking through the shoe section of stores. Too much money has been left behind. It took me a long time to realize I only wear a few of my favourites. How many pairs of black, flat shoes can I wear. One pair of black patent ones cost way too much and are way too uncomfortable to break in. Even still, they sit in my closet because I feel guilty about them and maybe some day they’ll magically be broken in.

One, well one is all I have. They are for sombre events, sadly. At my age if the grim reaper doesn't have you down in his appointment book you can be sure that one or two friends and family are there. My black shoes I wear when we attend a funeral.

My wife keeps her shoes in a couple of pigeon-hole type cupboards like this.
Mine I keep in the bottom of my wardrobe, they keep their shape on a skeletal
shoe tree, I have four of these skeletal shoe trees, very good they are too.

We used to compete in dancing for many years, (Latin & Ballroom,) probably why we have such extensive wardrobes.
This cleaning pack went with me everywhere, it was so handy.

Oh yes, I see the other ones now. I think you might have even more shoes than me! 🙂

I am lucky to find a pair of shoes that will fit or be comfortable now. My shoe days are long gone. I bought one pair of sketchers but some days I can't even wear them. I have a pair of $10. sandals bought from Walmart four years ago that I mostly wear in warm weather (my feet get hot). I wear slippers inside. The most I ever paid for a pair of shoes was $95. for a pair of loafers from Boscov's. Long time ago.
