Bangladesh- 2 Dead-40 injured- 20 hostages- almost certain to die. Isis claims responsibility.
Why am I even posting this? Might as well give the weather report. "It rained today in Bangladesh."
So what?

The pendulum swings. So it has always been. Not to say that the occurrences are not horrific, they are, but we are a tough and resilient species. We have survived war, pestilence, famine, oppression, fire, flood, drought, earthquake, blizzard, hurricane--you name it. We will survive this also. Love and compassion are still here and walk among us.:love_heart:

They say it's for ISIS but some experts think if miight be for someone else or want to bes. Apparently a rescue was attempted over the last few hours. Information controlled or vague from the local police.

20 killed 13 rescued after raid. The terrorist killed those who could not recite the Koran. They tortured and murdered them with "sharp" weapons. Several Americans killed along with 9 Italians among the deceased.

Also a Buddist priest was stabbed last night as well in the same city.

RIP those killed speedy recovery to survivors.

The death and destruction are tragic. My heart goes out to all concerned. Sadly, this is nothing new. Ten million dead in the purges etc of Soviet Russia, remember the Armenian genocide? Pol Pot? The methods may change, but the rage/hatred continue. In the midst of horror, it is essential we retain our humanity, or "they" have already won.

Yes, I'm afraid many are reacting exactly like the terrorists want them to. Media needs to stop the 24/7 news coverage of each event, imo. Just report the facts after they get the facts straight.

Media as "propaganda" always contains the seeds of fear/xenophobia etc. The more skewed news becomes towards sensationalism, and away from fact checking and moderate reporting, the more fragile/unattainable balance becomes. The potentiality of THAT terrifies me far more than terrorism.
