Stocking before a Storm

I would agree with this too. Makes more sense to just keep some essentials like dehydrated food stuff stocked. But that would be for times of a long term black out or disaster wouldn't it? Just for a snow storm, I think you would only need basic essentials to last a couple days right?

When we retired to the countryside, we prepared for extended periods of power outage, or being stuck at home in case of a major snowstorm...plus, we live in the MidWest where a tornado is always a possibility. Towards that end, we keep a bunch of canned goods, etc., on hand, and plenty of food in the freezer, etc. I also bought a generator, which can supply enough electricity to keep the essentials...fridge, freezer, well pump, etc., going. The generator isn't big enough to run the electric furnace or the range/oven, but I keep a coleman stove for cooking, and we have a big outdoor wood furnace for heat. So far, knock wood, our longest power outage has been about 18 hours...but I would rather be prepared for the worst, and just be grateful if it doesn't happen.

Now that makes sense. Where would one store a trailer?

In a local away from where I live place but still accesible. There are a lot of those around here. I mean people with rv's for all kinds of reasons. My SUV is the tow car.

Don't have those kind of emergencies here, but we usually have a good supply of cans, long life milk, and long life part baked bread in the food cupboard, just in case the weather is cold/raining/ a bit of snow and we don't fancy a trip to the supermarket.
