Stocking Up On Toilet Paper

Just talked with my brother on the phone. He lives in Conn. He said stores around there are running out of meat and other food!! He said it would not hurt to go out and stock the freezer.
I was shopping yesterday and saw no such thing.I guess maybe he wants to stock his freezer like everyone else.

I don't get it. Maybe it hasn't hit my area yet. Just for the hey of it, I may go out to another supermarket tomorrow and see what's up.

We could get an air drop if needed!!!

Instacart has choppers now?

I don't get the toilet paper thing either. A washable cloth will work for ladies for most trips to the toilet if there happens to ever be a shortage and I can't see why there would. It's not as though this virus is gastrointestinal ...a few studies have reported diarrhea, but I don't think it's a symptom for most people or severe when it is a symptom. Of all paper products, I've stocked up on face tissue the most. Some for my purse and car when I'm out to keep from touching my face with my hands. And plenty for my home and my parents in case someone does get sick and has to cover a lot of coughs and sneezes. Sick with this bug is not really the time to stick a dirty hankie back in your pocket and use it again ...unless your goal is to spread it.

We just needed a few things at a store....All was stocked....but we went to pay our order the couple ahead of us had 15 bottles of wine....And toilet paper
maybe 10 of them and tissues....The couple were maybe 70's....My husband gave me a look to keep quiet....He knows I'm nosey!!!!
Other wise, every thing is the same where we are....

Seriously ...since we're on the topic of toilet paper. Even though diarrhea is rare with Covid-19, it is present in the feces of infected people. Read up on 'toilet plume' and you'll see that public toilets aren't a great idea these days.

I agree probably best, especially as you have elderly parents too.

I always have a stock of Paper tissues in the house, a box of tissues on the bedside table in each room... and one box in the livingroom..it's just something I've always done.. .. I may buy a few more just in case, but I have lots of toilet paper and kitchen paper ( something I always buy in bulk anyway ) so I don't think there's any need for me to rush out and buy more...

oh not another thing to be concerned about.... ? ...just have to hovver, and scrub your hands thoroughly...

We buy it by the case at Sam's.
I used to get cases of Scott tissue at Costco, but found a better buy at Smart FoodService (formerly Cash and Carry)
A habit from living in the woods (no deciduous trees....pine needles don't cut it)

I was in Walmart this morning and didn't see anything unusual in the way of panic buying or hoarding.
Same with Wally World here
Just normal folks/buying normal stuff

I just ordered a box from Amazon; not to stock up, I was getting low on it. I'm always cold & my nose runs when I wake up so I use it for that, too. It's "Quilted Northern Extra Wide 3 Ply." It's 1/2 inch wider so it fits on the roll without a bunch of empty space on either side....

Hoarding is not panic buying and there are companies creating rules limiting items like Purell. I have seen on the news very long lines outside a Costco store. The virus is in it's infant stages in the US so far. Masks are another item being hoarded and the medical field is worried they may not be able to buy them if the sales continue. Suppliers are increasing production of many items related to the scare. With Italy being one of the centers of attention I have not heard much about their shortages if there are any.

Houston metro area has its first case.

Yes, a man and woman on an International Flight from Egypt to IAH (Houston) tested positive yesterday and are in a local hospital.
The woman teaches at Rice University in Houston.
Another man, on the same air flight may have also tested positive. ?? .. He's confined in Stafford I think.

Consistently sold out here:
Hand sanitizer
Rubbing alcohol
Aloe vera gel

Everything else seems to be in stock. Maybe a few stores are running out of other things, but overall supplies look fairly normal.
