'Stop & Spit' Lawsuit-Unlawful DNA Collection California, Minors Targeted

A lawsuit dubbed 'Stop and Spit' regarding the illegal collection of DNA from non criminal minors has been filed in San Diego. Police were stopping non criminal minors and asking for/coercing DNA samples via a swab.

Well, I can't imagine that wearing "gang colors" as a reason for arresting juveniles is particularly legal. So, taking DNA samples from said juveniles would be equally "sketchy". I know that collecting DNA from adult felony suspects has been a widespread practice, for some time. I would think the the SDPD's legal advisors would have already given their opinion on matters of this nature.
