Strange Illness Outbreak Reported in Fla

Health officials are warning Florida residents about a "large" outbreak of a potentially fatal bacterial illness known as meningococcal disease that's primarily affecting gay and bisexual men.

So far this year, there have been 21 confirmed cases of meningococcal disease as of Monday, according to Florida Department of Health data. That's higher than the state's five-year average of cases of the disease.

"[Florida Department of Health] epidemiologists are investigating each case as well as contacting people with potential or direct exposure to known cases to provide them with information and treatment options," the department said in a statement.

Yeah...I remember when we were first made aware of HIV/AIDS via a special visit from the head honchos from the health department in our state capital. They advised us of where they first two cases of AIDS were discovered. One on the east coast and one on the west. The young gay men had developed Kaposi Sarcoma, usually found in older people. As the infections grew and mostly presented in young gays at the time, I knew someone who said it was God's wrath against the gays. And you are right my friend...Bible should start with a capital letter as should the word God. I'm a Muslim woman who was raised Christian and still show respect for Christian tenets. An increase of this meningitis strain was reported to be
among children her in the UK, I just looked it up and it
now reported to be among students and it has climbed
to higher than pre-pandemic levels.

The fact that you have it in America affecting only Gay men,
is coincidental I think, there will be others who are not gay,
also affected.

That statement, sir, is slanderous to all of us white people. Just because a person disagrees with your lifestyle does not make them a terrible person as you are trying to make them out to be. It’s called the 1st amendment.

Sorry if I offended you. Last time I checked I am a white male too.

With that said, if I called out someone who has implied I should get sick because of my lifestyle (earlier in the thread), who has disparaged Muslims, who says Transgender people can't change their sex and who continually disparages the US... the country that you defended... I will do so because I'm also exercising my 1st Amendment right. ;)
