I don't have services such as Hulu or Netflix, but I often view TV shows on my computer....the picture/sound is great, and there is only a fraction of the commercials that appear on TV....and if I miss a good show, I can always look at it at my convenience. My favorites are some of the shows that appear on the History Channel.
A good example is the recent 6 hour showing of a series called "Washington"....3, 2 hour shows detailing the life of George Washington. I am a history buff, and I learned far more about Washington, and that time in our nation's history from this show than I ever remember learning in school. If you have traditional TV service, and fairly fast internet speed, you might enjoy some of this type of viewing.
