Streets frozen, China's buildings collapsed! Snowstorm with strong wind hit Heilongjiang

When the south in the US gets hit with ice on occasion poop happens but buildings tend not to collapse. Icey roads with few or no salt trucks tend to be the biggest issue.

It's either defective materials or faulty design not accounting for expansion and contraction of building materials.

This has been a recurring problem in China. Buildings, at least once a school have collapsed during earthquakes killing children. One of many problems their government has with artist/activist Ai Weiwei is that he's led protests about such incidents.
Apparently not really strong building standards, and likely inspectors can be bribed.

Reminds me of a disaster movie I just finished...Geostorm. But of course, not as devastating. I am not looking forward to our turn with snow, especially not heavy snow. 🥶
