Suddenly getting pop-up ads

I did rum a virus scan with MSE and it didn't alert of any viruses. but when I looked at the History tab, there was an item there. I deleted it (don't remember what it was now) and so far haven't had any pop-ups. I just wonder why MSE didn't say there was any malware when there was an item in the history?

I suspect I got it from this message board. Two days ago there were strange Chinese characters in one of my posts. Big mistake clicking on it. I alerted Matrix and those posts were removed.

I am sorry to say that you will need major upgrades in the not-so-distant future.

If you don't, you will be susceptible to all the nasty stuff out there.
Not just pop up ads.
