On Sunday evening after dark North America will witness its third, best and last total lunar eclipse – also called a Super Wolf Blood Moon – of a trio that began last January with a Super Blue Blood Moon. It will also be visible in Central and South America and during the early hours of January 21 Western Europe.

The spectacle lasts five hours, but totality, the most impressive phase, lasts 62 minutes. This Full Moon is occurring during a Supermoon when our satellite is at its closest, so looks at its largest, while January's Full Moon is often called the Wolf Moon.

You're welcome Rose, they said I can see it in Co. on Sunday night, should be the same in CT., not sure I'll be awake either, or skies will be clear.

11:41 pm in CT... hope our storm has cleared enough to see it, and I can stay awake! Thanks, SB!

I see your time now Rose, yes two hours later than me. I should be able to stay awake to see the moon at 9:41 :p, hoping for clear skies.

At 11:41 Sunday night it will be completely clouded over and breezy here with a temperature of 7 degrees Fahrenheit. :awman:

Think I'll just skip it and wait for the movie.

Sky too cloudy, but get this-

A police officer in Florida ran over two people lying on a dark road to watch the lunar eclipse, leaving them requring hospital treatment.
The West Palm Beach Police Department has confirmed the officer ran over the two people, who were taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries after the incident on Sunday night.
Police said that the individuals, who have not been identified, were hit around 11.30pm, just at the height of the eclipse.
The officer was patrolling a park at the time, and driving at about 5mph when he struck the two.

A statement given to the Palm Beach Post by police said that the two were run over after choosing to lie in the park because it was “extremely dark”.

Anyone see the eclipse?

I wasn't able to see it, too cloudy. They said that a meteor hit the moon during the eclipse, more here.

On Sunday, January 20, viewers across the Western Hemisphere were treated to the rusty hues of the decade's last “blood moon” eclipse. But as people across the planet watched the moon glow crimson, some lucky observers caught an unexpected delight: the flash of a space rock striking the lunar orb.

“It's a rare alignment of infrequent events,” says Justin Cowart, a Ph.D. candidate at Stony Brook University in New York. “A [meteoroid] about this size hits the moon about once a week or so,” he says.

But if this event is confirmed, it may be the first time such an impact has been recorded during a lunar eclipse.
