Just caught the commercial on TV about SuperBeets....Just wondered if anyone here has tried it ....or "Beets" as a supplement under any other brand name?

I used to see a chiropractor that believed the key to good health was A.B.C. Apples , Beets, & Carrots. AND .....he practiced it . By that I mean he snacked on them everyday. He showed me his snack tray . His 'meals' at home were only fish or white meat chicken...both either pan-seared or backed only !

His wife worked in the reception office, and she verified it.

Granted he was younger....But trust me, this guy was physically fit.

I hear that ad on the radio all the time, but I've never tried it. I know that beets are very nutritious and they can lower blood pressure. I read some reviews and as usual there's a great difference of opinion, some say it worked great in lowering their blood pressure or giving them energy and tasted great. And some say it did nothing for them, tasted bad and was overpriced compared to other beetroot supplements you can buy. If you decide to give it a try, let us know if you felt any difference after using it.

Other benefits of beets here.

If you are interested in trying that out there is another option... buying fresh and blending into a drink. I would think you would need one of the high powered blenders to do a good job.

The beet smoothie sounds like a great idea. I think that if you chopped up a couple beets and added some orange juice, then zapped it for a few minutes in a conventional kitchen blender you would get a decent tasting drink with plenty of fiber.

As far as the miracle benefits of drinking it I'm not so sure.

I always think of Cher when I read about these wonder cures. "Fitness - If it came in a bottle, everybody would have a great body!"

Funny, I was thinkin' of Sonny and Cher The beet goes on....

I get your point for sure but......Keep in mind how many plastic surgeries she had LOL!! So her way of cheating was just fine....:)

As for the "miracle" yeah I'm not sure either...But anything harmless , [as it appears] and that might help?...I at least consider reading up on...perhaps even trying.

I have not seen any ads for a beetroot supplement; but I have used fresh beets in my smoothie drinks. the smoothie looks like it has berries in it, no matter what you add to the beets; so th smoothie is always beautiful looking.
I like the taste of raw beets , too, and I think that they do add good nutrition to the smoothie.
Pickled beets are wonderful as a snack, or in salads, as Radish Rose mentioned, and sometimes I get the shredded ones and pickle those to add to my salads.
I use my Vitamix to blend up the beets; but I think that if you put them through a food processor first and then blended them in the smoothie, just about any blender would work fine.

You've not seen the adds for "Super-Beets" the supplement ? WoW! It's on around here about every 1/2 hour....

They're not on TV by me, only on AM radio, almost ever station all day. I just ordered some, might be a one time purchase, but my husband was asking me about this weeks ago and we want to give it a try. So it's a 2 week test trial for the two of us, instead of a month. Free shipping on Amazon. Will report after we're using it for awhile.

We've been using it for 5 days now, although I have no doubt that it's concentrated beetroot powder and very good for you, and perfect for people like me who don't like the taste of beets at all, it will be a one time purchase for me. It's too expensive, even though I wanted to try it once, so that's a drawback for me. There are other beetroot supplements if I really want to take them that are much cheaper, maybe in capsule form.

My husband doesn't mind beets too much, but he rarely eats them. I've bought organic beet juice in the past, and I think I ended up dumping it down the drain, because it was open in the fridge and getting old. The flavor of the SuperBeets I got was black cherry, it was a bit too sweet and artificial tasting, so that wasn't great.

Neither of us have a high blood pressure problem or a pressure machine at home, so I have no idea if our BP was lowered. As far as feeling noticeable energy, neither of us did. I would probably use this product if it cost $10, but not going to go broke using it.

I'm not a big fruit or vegetable eater to begin with, haven't been since I was a kid, but I do eat some just for health reasons, but not nearly as much as I should. So, in that respect, having the beetroot supplement would likely be of benefit even without dramatic results.

My unprofessional recommendation is don't waste your money, either juice some beets or get them from a less expensive product. :dollar:

Beets produce nitrous oxide which helps increase blood flow throughout your entire body and your brain, which in turn may help reduce the chance of developing Alzheimer's and vascular dementia. But beet greens (the leafs) are high in oxalates which can form small crystals and contribute to the formation of kidney stones.

It's nitric oxide, nitrous oxide is the gas the dentist gives you when you get a tooth pulled.

Nitric oxide (N-O) is a gas composed of one atom of nitrogen bonded to one atom of oxygen. It serves as a critical signaling molecule in the cardiovascular and circulatory system. That means it affects absolutely every function in our bodies—it’s at the foundational core because without circulation, none of our body’s other systems can work as intended.

Not arguing....asking...Do you think 5 days is enough ?

No, it's probably not enough, but sharing it with my husband will give us 2 weeks of use, if any changes are noticed, I'll update RGP. :) Ideally you'd evaluate after a full month, this was just my initial thoughts on the product. Maybe it was too early for that recommendation, but there may be cheaper products out there to increase nitric oxide.

Maybe someone who really knows...or at least has some clinical knowledge will chime in [or is that you?] but........I thought I read somewhere that it takes at least three months for most supplements to take effect / affect a change?

As I understand it medicines are much faster, which is part of the reason they are prescription controlled ? Medicines are after all [mostly] chemicals...

I think that some things might take time to be noticed as to whether they are effective or not; but something might show effects right away, depending on what they do and how they do it.
As an example, when we eat something that raises blood sugar, we notice the effects immediately. If we are low on some mineral, then a longer time of supplementation would probably be necessary before a person noticed a change.
As far as the nitric oxide, from beets or elsewhere, if it is opening your blood vessels and increasing blood flow, I think a person might notice the difference fairly soon.
When I take niacin, I can feel it opening the little capillaries and the effect that it has right away; but to have a long term effect, I think that you need to supplement with it regularly.

As far as beets, from what I have read, they are one of the root veggies that is still very beneficial even after they are cooked; so eating them that way should still be healthy.
When you add beets to a smoothie that has flavorful berries (strawberries, cranberries, raspberries) in it, it is not really noticeable as a beet taste, and it adds a beautiful bright pink color to the smoothie.
I have tried this with both cooked beets and raw beets.
It seems to me that the taste was more noticeable with raw beets, but I might have just added more of those than I did with the cooked ones.

SeaBreeze, I think that starting out with a smoothie with berries and just a dab of beets might be a good way to get used to the flavor, and then you can gradually increase the amount as you get used to the flavor of beets.
