Supplemental Carrier's Intentions (??)

This morning Deb ran out to my shop, the phone in her hand; "insurance co." (whispered). A lady barely understandable, but, given my poor hearing, I managed to glean this: Insuror says I should have a colonoscopy done. "Too long since your last one"; Ha! Too long is never. They wanted to set up and schedule one. OK, what's going on here? (other than my own, blind, hardheadedness).

Get a colonoscopy, findings maybe dire, cancer present, costs the Insuror a bundle of dough, right? Other route: no colonoscopy, cancer present, when detected, death is imminent.

Which route costs the Insuror MORE? Looks pretty clear-cut to me, no "cutting" pun intended. Insurance companies do not expect to lose money; profit is top dog.

What am I missing here? imp
