Have lived on both sides of the Great Lakes (Chicago and Cleveland) ..... weather can get very extreme.
I recall the huge snowdrifts that were produced by the cold winds that came across the lakes in the winter. Buffalo used to take the title for biggest drifts, but we got our share in NE Ohio too.
