Surprised That Grocery Stores Closed Today

Usually opened at least part of the day on Christmas, and they were opened last month on Thanksgiving and did quite a brisk business although with small orders for last minute items.

Supermarkets usually are closed on Christmas day here, and close early on Christmas Eve.

Supermarkets are closed on Christmas day here, usually opened again on Boxing day ( 26th) but I read somewhere that this year they're staying closed...

Closed on Christmas & Boxing Day was the norm for years in a former town. On the 26th the pharmacies were permitted to open. They were jam packed full. It’s a major sale day now, rather like Black Friday. Not sure what’s happening this year.

Stores generally all closed Jan 1st here... but of course this year most non essential shops are closed anyway due to the lockdown . We have no idea when or if they'll re-open

Our local stores all close early on Christmas eve, and stay closed on Christmas....been that way as far back as I can remember. Much the same on Thanksgiving and New Years day.

Always have been open foe a half day. I got up at 5 to get to store #1 at 6 but they were not going to open until 9. On to store #2. - CLOSED all day. On to store #3 CLOSED - all day. Ended up going to a minimart for milk, bread and chips. Another good reason to kiss 2020 goodbye.

Grocers here close early on the day of Christmas eve, remain closed on Christmas Day, and close early again on Boxing day.

Fine by me. If I have not got what I need by now I did not need it. I make lists and try to plan ahead. Got my black eyed peas to cook for New Year's dinner but need to add turnip greens to list. Mexican cornbread, cherry pie, and drinks complete the menu for January l.

Stores are closed here today.......with the exception of the gas bar........think it was open just for a very few hours, 6 hours, i think.

Learned that the grocery I patronize will be open 9-4 on Jan. 1.

Loaded up two weeks ago and still fine here. Think the food stores were open today...
