Take this job and shove it

they're rage quitting because the places they're working at suck. the bosses suck...co-workers suck...equipment never works...plumbing always on the fritz....customers are so demanding now it's gotten totally out of hand....plus having to work to cover shifts when there's no help because they're all quitting or won't come off unemployment. i'm concerned right now that i might just get mad one of these days on the job and say the hell with it and throw my apron down and walk the hell out.

bosses tell you doors are always open. bs! you gotta problem...they really don't wanna hear it or deal with it. they get down right nasty with you over stupid crap.

co-workers are aholes that either spend all day up someone else's butt nitpicking them instead of minding their own damn business or they're too lazy to do their jobs and the rest of us have to make up the difference. or they're too stupid to manage on their own without someone holding their hand all day.

all the equipment either leaks or doesn't work. which makes it practically impossible to get your work done not to mention it's stressful as hell. it's like being slowly tortured every day.

the other night we had plenty of food to choose from in the cafeteria and this vegetarian lady wouldn't accept the salads we had to offer or the vegetarian sandwich. she got all huffy and insisted we make her something hot. if we hadn't had any garden burgers she'd have been screwed. i don't know what makes customers think they can walk in someplace and demand something that's not on the menu but i can understand why people go postal.

by the time i leave work i'm so ticked off i feel like that ups driver that sat screaming in his truck for 30 min.

i left one hospital because they wouldn't let me take leave for a health issue without a drs note and they accused me of having mental issues and the ceo chased me down the damn drive to the place stating i needed mental care and blah blah blah. i was on foot. i ended up walking 6 mi to get home that day. and then they wonder why people hate working.

I hear ya Marcie. I worked in convenience stores some years, the same BS.
I worked at a 7/11 when I was 19. It wasn't that bad.

The worst job I ever had was washing dishes in a Perkins Pancake House. I had to bust my ass from the moment I got to work until the time I left. I got paid minimum wage and my bosses were a-holes.

That was my first real job. Every job I've had since was a big improvement. Everything is relative in life.

I'm looking for work but I feel unqualified for many positions. I can't stand for long periods of time so that rules out retail stores. I joined a care providers group via app, however, I don't want to care for somebody in their home with who knows what kind of environment I would be exposed to. Perhaps if I were younger I wouldn't mind caring for somebody to a point, but I wouldn't want to bathe somebody.

I'm on SSD now but worked over 40 years before my car accident. I hope you find something Ed.

I've wanted to say that (take this job and shove it) to employers a few times in my life, and came so close to doing it,
but I thought I'd better act like a lady so I graciously held out my hand and thanked them for the opportunity to work with them.
haha! Not what I felt like doing but maybe I misdirected some bad karma.

I had one moron boss who kept on me. I finally went off on him and he knew I meant business. I take crap to keep jobs (not now though), but push me too hard and I'll lay on the meanness.

Oh I have had some real doozies jobs. The kind where they say either do it my way or you're out of here and shortly after I walk out the door and not because they told me to but because of the managers attitude.

You didn’t burn any bridges. Bet your next job was based on a positive referral from the previous jerk(s).

If your job is dealing with the "public", you know they're out there-whack jobs. And you're going to get 'em. Throw in low wages, and a manager fresh out of remedial Burger School, and you're out of there. Come on, if you quit, you're not getting a stock portfolio as a termination bonus. You're getting the right to go next door to an equally crummy paying job. Right now, the criteria for getting hired is being alive. Let's enjoy the tight job market, while we can.

The In-And-Out Burger that's being built near me has a sign out front advertising for workers at $14.50-$17.00 an hour. If I were a young lad looking for work, I would much rather work at a fast food restaurant than at Amazon for about the same pay. Working at Amazon seems kind of dehumanizing, and I guess that could be said for most factory work, also. I can think of worse jobs, though.

I once had a boss who I swear was bi-polar. One day he would be the nicest guy and the next a wacko SOB. He fired me on one of his wacko days and that was the only time I was fired and happy about it.

After my father died I quit a different job I had after they demanded a lot of overtime. If my father's death taught me anything it was that life is not forever, so it was adios MF.

Same pay and better conditions. In-n-Out train their staff well and they’re always pleasant. It’s a place young people want to have on their resume.

My quick "take this job and shove it" story. I was pulled from teaching German to teach advanced math (i.e., advanced algebra, calculus, etc.) at a large high school. Was doing well - all the students were scoring in the upper 99th percentile on their NMSQT scores and there was a big demand to get into my classes (that's another story) Told the super I needed a day off to fly to NYC to sign a contract for a calculus book I was to write. The super denied my request saying, "Only people with a PhD can author text books.." I gave him the verbal finger, went to NYC anyway, signed the contract, quit shortly thereafter and went back into computers and operations analysis and research. My encounter with secondary education left me with a very unfavorable opinion of public school officials (e.g, principals and superintendents). Looking at the sorry state of secondary education today, my opinion still holds.
