Taking down a large mirror

We have to take down a large mirror in the main bathroom in advance of the replacement of the counter-top on the vanity. The counter-top installers won't take it down nor will they install the countertop unless the mirror is removed.

The dang thing is 6' by 4' and is pretty thick glass. I was scared that it was glued to the wall in some way but luckily it is held on by spring clips. The trouble is that someone has to hold up the spring clips while someone else lifts the mirror out And there's no way one person can lift the mirror out. So it's going to take six hands.

The Spousal Equivalent bought a pair of those suction cup handles that the pros use to pick up glass and luckily, his son the big cop can come over today and help. I'm in charge of pushing the clips up, which unfortunately are almost out of my wingspan reach.

If you hear a loud crash around noon coming from the Southern United States, you'll know what it is......

I did that once, I hated those "Hollywood Mirrors" I took duct tape and covered the whole thing and
around the edges. Then tapped it with a mallet and pulled sections off. Small bits would chip off but
at least the large sharp parts stuck to the tape and I could dispose of it without getting cut.
I did it by myself.
Unfortunately, we have to put it back up after the new countertop goes in. It's waaay too much mirror for my taste, too, but being the thrifty Scot that I am, I'm not going out to buy a new mirror (of course, that's supposing we don't break it getting it down.....)
