Talking Guitars? I know you know some

OK here's hint for those not sure what I am talking about.
It's a device called the "Talk Box" used on a guitar to give it a different sound, like words.
The opening to this song used a Talk Box to make the intro stand out.
 
Here is Peter Frampton using one... The voicebox has a speaker in it that sends the sound up through the tube and into his mouth. Then the mic picks up the sound. Go to about the halfway point to see the voicebox in action.

That's not actually a live performance since he doesn't have a microphone directly in front of his mouth, which is required for that to work. His voicebox was very quiet and thus could only be used in the studio.
Thank you for clarifying the difference, What I meant in my OP was it was the first time I heard words through a guitar instrument.
But maybe he got the minds rolling to the final development of the Talk Box? I know as a kid I was amazed he could make words
come out of anything musical. I had a hard time finding that video:oops:
