Tall now? The more you age, the more you will shrink

I've lost an inch. I was 5' 5.5".

However, I've always thought of myself as being tall. I had 2 women friends - one was 6' tall, the other 6'1". I'd say something about "tall people like us", perfectly seriously. And that was when each of them (in different decades in my life) hauled me to a full-length mirror to prove to me that I was significantly shorter than them.

I always thought of my husband and I as being close to the same height; he was 6'2".

One time I planted some flowers in a tiny flower bed. I measured it and was 6' long. Yup, 6' is not long at all.

Aside from being delusional about my height, I do wonder how that could happen. As in, what is wrong with my perception? I still feel tall, I just don't talk about it. One time at work, a woman was complaining about how she hated being short. I asked her how tall she was and we were the same height. I was flabbergasted that she would think that was short! I told her that was complete BS since we are the same height and I am TALL!
of course 5.5 now is average height.. the women now..are much taller than they were even 20 years ago and certainly 40 years ago... it's very common now to see women 5.10 and above, and not unusual in the least... whereas 40 years ago,. a 6ft woman would have stood out...but thta's not the case now..

Once upon a time there was a cure for a compressed spine.

All you had to do was commit some annoying crimes in the community, then the very friendly people would put you on the 'rack', and, it was possible that you would end up taller than you ever were. 😊

I already lost 3/4 of an inch in height, but I also lost 12 pounds and 1 pants waist size. I have been doing more biking, swimming when I am in Florida and dead weights or dumbbells for the upper body doing curls and shoulder flies. I have been taking creatine and protein supplements, but I think one of them is giving me diarrhea.

I don’t want my ribs sticking out and I’m only about one-third gray.

I am 72, and maybe have shrunk a 1/2", but I have lost about 30 lbs in the last 3 months. I am taking on that "skeletal look". It is good for Halloween. I walk around without a costume and scare everyone. :)

To me you look lean and fine for your age. And you don't have the excess body fat that many have when they grow older.

After age 30 we begin to shrink.
By age 70, men can be an inch shorter than they were.
Women can be two inches shorter.
Live to 80 and over? more shrinkage
Still 6'1", haven't shrunk so far, can't say the same for my muscle mass.
