Target reports people are shopping less for necessities, like food, thanks to high prices

MSN - "Target said Wednesday that its customers reduced spending on groceries and home goods as concern about high prices persisted last quarter."

Last week when I bought bread, which is typically $4 to $5 a loaf now, I intentionally bought the cheaper, whole wheat, I-don't-know-if-I-will-like-this-brand of bread so I could save $5 on two loaves.

Likewise I have to commit to buying my eggs at Sam's Club because, OMG, the grocery stores wants $4 a dozen now.

I would really like to get a bread-maker and make my own, this saving tons of money, but most of the cheaper ones use Teflon-coated bread pans and I refuse to let Teflon pans back into my life. They are not healthy at all. Teflon is still allowed in things like rice cookers and bread-makers because of this loophole over temperature, but, no way. I'll wait until I can find one with a stainless steel bread pan. Maybe some maker will lower their prices on one of the pricier ones someday?

One day, about 10 years ago I was visiting one of my kids and I saw she was still using Teflon pans. She's very busy and she doesn't really care much for following the news, so she didn't know about the Teflon ban. I had to use a credit card to pay for them, but I got her a new set of granite-covered pans and urged her, once again, to throw out all those old pans and sent her some links to some good replacements. She could afford new, it just wasn't something she knew about.

Anyway, inflation is very real and PFAS are bad.
