Taxi Fares

I have been using the same local taxi firm for several years now and a couple of years ago they introduced an App for bookings which worked very well.

From my flat to my local pub it is normally £3,10 and I usually give a £1 tip.

I noticed after my journey home yesterday that my last three rides had been charged at £6.60 which was taken from my credit card. I rang up to ask what was the reason for this but did not receive a satisfactory answer, although I was assured that I will receive a refund to the correct price in a few days time.

Do you think I am right to be suspicious about this?

Good lord where do you get a taxi for £3.10 ?, and you're in the same county as me .. we can't even step in a cab here under £3.70...and £5.55 at weekends and evenings .. and then it's £1.42 per KM or part KM... and £2.13 per km .. ..or 24p per minute.....

It sounds like you've been charged the same prices as here.. or if not they've mistaken your trip for a round trip...

It's only 3/4 of a mile.

So the same distance here in the East of the county would have cost £5.12 during the day... and £7.68 at weekends or evenings...

If my math is correct, you pay in US $4.21. Here, it costs that much just to get run over by a cab.

it would cost that much here too... I've not heard of a cab that cheap in years...

I have received an email from the taxi company telling me that the App is no longer over charging, but no sign of any refunds.

The more I read about England, the more I hate America and wish I was in England.

Thanks! Oh, my wife made it across the pond. She LOVED England!

Trust me...PLENTY of Americans would love to live in England...plenty. Especially people around here in New Jersey and New York City. So hectic around here. And also...very angry people. A lot of people from this part of the USA would love to find a nicer place to live. And many do. Many go to Florida, California and Arizona.

Cadbury chocolate is now disgusting, taste cheap and nasty. Someone told me it now taste like American Hershey chocolate. I had that once, didn't like it at all.. not quality chocolate

incidentally, we do drink a lot of coffee too.. so you wouldn't necessarily have to drink tea...

Laurie was in England maybe 20 years ago? Oh, American chocolate is horrible. I would not even call it chocolate. I think the secret ingredient in American chocolate is lead paint.

We do have specialty shops that make their own chocolate from scratch. Those are good. But the stuff you can buy in stores is horrible.

I think it is designed to reduce emigration to the United States.

I live less than 20 miles from 2 airports.. a Cab ( saloon) costs around £35..sterling...or £55 in an MPV.. during the day.. almost double that price at night. I find it cheaper to park my car at the airport for a week
