Teacher Wanted on Fair Isle, Scotland

I read this in the newspaper today and thought that it might
be a good job for a young person, they are offering £59,000.

The island has only 60 people living there and the school which
is a primary school has 3 pupils and 2 teaching assistants!

Easy money, but lonely, so if your Grandson or Granddaughter
is a teacher looking for isolation this is for them.

Depopulation is a major problem in the Western and northern Isles and incentives are offered to suitable candidates (often young couples with specific qualifications) to settle there. My daughter, who is a senior lecturer, put together a virtual tour of Scotland for her Chinese students and they had trouble believing that such a place as Fair Isle existed. Many had never even seen the sea! One who braved going to the beach complained that the sea was cold, She said that the sand was warm and assumed that the sea would be too!
