Tech news: Now there are "smart" lightbulbs

You can now buy LED lightbulbs that connect to your Wi-Fi and you control the brightness and color using an app on your phone.

Pretty soon we won't have to get out of our chairs for anything except going to bed! :ROFLMAO:
we've had them for a good while now....all my lights and heating are remote control from Hive .. ( just announce out loud..''lights off'' and they all go off... or by our phones .. by clicking on Hive.....which we can control even when we're abroad on holiday , preventing burglars from knowing the house is empty..

We’ve had the smart light bulbs for ages too. Pricey and I don’t need coloured lights. Some of our fixtures are controlled remotely.

We also have had these bulbs for at least a few years. We never bought any because we had no use for them.

I had no idea they even existed! I installed a dimmer switch in my office last year.

I've been fighting having to use my phone for everything. I still use the Roku remote instead of my phone to control YouTube videos when I watch in the living room. I can lay back on the couch and operate the remote with one hand instead of two hands, which would be required with my phone, plus I'd have to put on my glasses since I'm far sighted. I can operate the physical remote without even looking at it.

Apparently, you can use voice commands to control the "smart" lights. I guess I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to some of this new technology, which is kind of ironic since I'm a software engineer! :ROFLMAO: (Albeit retired.)
