I know, right? A high school teacher told me the students were on the phone all the time in class and he was told he could not take their phones away, even temporarily.

It's like a new amendment to the constitution, the right to stay connected -- every second of everyday. I'll bet if you took away all this kid's computer, TV and phone access, so he couldn't enjoy his new found fame, it would hurt him more than prison time.

That's quite different from an arrest, police can confiscate items during/after arrest.

Upon arrest, police are legally able to seize a cell phone if they believe evidence may exist on it. Once the phone has been seized, the police will need to obtain a search warrant before they do any search, forensic or otherwise.

Another sick young man that will probably never see the light of day for years to come. People do this because it gives them a short term high. After the realization sets in is when these people face the reality of their crime.

A kid, who brutally kills when he's 14, is probably never going to be back on the street. I don't know anything about this kid, but I doubt this is his first encounter with authorities. And I doubt this is his last killing.

If he was in PA, he would be placed into the Juvenile section of the prison until he was 18 and then sent to the general population where he would experience the hard cold facts of life.
