Television Lied To Me, It Wasn't Funny At All!

All my life I have seen scenes from TV shows and in movies where a person falls or gets knocked out of bed and we all laugh because we find it funny. Well, last night I rolled out of bed, and I wasn't laughing at all! But I was cursing! I hurt my big toe on my right foot. It's okay now, but I was cursing up a storm during the middle of the night. Then again, maybe it's just funny if it happens to someone else. Is that it?

It really does hurt when you stub your toe...all the worse if you get hurt when you're asleep , because you don't get time to brace yourself...

There are lots of exciting things I like to see in movies, but which I never want to see in real life, such as
- terrible car, truck, airplane crashes
- buildings exploding
- asteroids striking the earth
- wars
to name just a few.

I was laughing when I read your post....falling out of bed is funny if you are not sick, injured or really old.

In this case, it was funny, especially your toe being hurt... Right out of Laurel and Hardy!

This reminds me of an instance from decades ago. I was going to this church where you could stand up and request prayers for yourself or someone else. Usually this was for injuries or illness.

One person had a friend who was kicked in the butt by a donkey. The guy who was kicked had a hip injury and hip injuries are pretty serious. But he had a hard time telling the story without laughing.

Even then, he kept saying. I shouldn't be laughing, a good friend of mine was injuries.

In the movies no one ever seems seriously injured so that makes it more acceptable to laugh.

As a farm kid growing up I learned to not walk around - behind animals.
Never trust a female Deer walking toward you either.
Wear strong clothing around the hogs. An bees go for the eyes.
