Tell us your old without telling us you are old......

As kids we would go out to play in the morning and didn't come home until it was time for dinner and our parents never worried about us.
My first job was a busboy and I thought I struck in rich if I got a quarter as a tip.
Later, our cars had points we set during a tune up. We'd set the timing with a timing light.
Drive-in-Movies were where all the cool kids hung out.

Denial

I'm not old
Who said I was old?
I ran in the junior Olympics
Now I walk to my armchair

I'm not old
Who said I was old?
I've lost my glasses
They were here, somewhere

I'm not old
Who said I was old?
I sleep during the day
And am up at night

I'm not old
Who said I was old?
I can still walk to the mailbox
And pick up a coin from the floor

I'm not old
Just a little cold.
Drink some hot tea
Wear a warm sweater

I'm not old
Truth be told
I can run in a marathon
But only in my dreams....

I've received three compliments that made me feel very good lately.

A gentleman asked me out on a date. I had to turn him down gently after he told me his age and he couldn't believe that I was 20 years older than him. Made me feel very happy of my family's genes.

In the lineup at the coffee shop, the lady ahead of us, heard us talking. She began chatting and out of the blue, told me I was a spring chicken and not to worry that another soulmate was out there for me. I was gobsmacked, she said she was 95 years old.

Recently, someone wants to consider me their bonus daughter...

Next year will mark 50 years that I've lost my father. It would be nice to have someone being proud of what I've done and what I'm hoping to do in the next 40 years...

Hoping that explains it 🙃

7¢ for a copy of the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle.
3¢ for a stamp
1¢ for a piece of candy
18¢ the cheapest price I recall for a gallon of gas in Florida in the early 1960's.
10¢ for ice cream cone
16¢ for a can of Campbell's Bean with Bacon Soup
10¢ for a comic book
29¢ for a Little Golden Book (children's books of the 50's and 60's)
15¢ for TV Guide
39¢ for a jar of jam or jelly

18¢ the cheapest price I recall for a gallon of gas
I had a car that chugged gas but at 25 cents a gallon, if my three friends pitched in a quarter each, we could "cruise" the hot spots on a Friday night for hours.

$2.25 an hr here LOL

I have about 20 years on you, Marci. $2.25 an hour in 1965 would make you feel like a billionaire.

I loved mood rings except mine was often black. LOL

Mine melted down and imploded...

When the phone rang you had to 'break your neck' to reach the phone because there were no answer machines or phones that were portable. And, no one ever thought there ever would be. When the grocery store clerk put the cold milk container or ice cream container in the bottom of the grocery bag you had to be careful carrying it from the car to inside the house because the bottom of the paper bag always got wet with condensation and easy tore open. No one had thought of plastic grocery bags, yet. The better invention was to buy milk from the milkman who delivered it to your door everyday.

i’m clueless what that is Rose but it sounds like something that i’d like 😂🤣😂

They helped the driver to not swipe the curb when parking.
We used to sit on the curb and "boing" them.
