Texas Pool Party Cop Behavior

Can you tell me WHY a cop would throw a 15 y/o girl wearing a bikini to the ground.. Hold her face in the grass and kneel with all his weight on her back while she cried for her mother? She was a legitimate guest at the party.. and all she did was try to go back to get her bag with her clothes... Was that acting properly on the cops part?

Fortunately, he was suspended and has since resigned... which was the right thing for him to do. He shouldn't be a cop.

Cops like that need to take it down a notch, he didn't need to overreact like that from what I've seen and heard. He also had an issue in the past with an aggressive cavity search that was abusive. I'm just glad this one didn't take another life senselessly like the others in the news lately. These cops need retraining on how to deal with people and how to handle their weapons.

I don't know if police behavior is becoming worse...or if, with the proliferation of cell phone cameras, etc., it is just being captured far more often. I kind of suspect the latter. I think the vast majority of police behave in a civil manner, but with all the risks of their jobs, it doesn't take much to push one of them over the edge. I know that I could not become a cop...when I see some of the behavior of the individuals they have to deal with on a daily basis, I probably wouldn't last a week before I went into Attack Mode.

Does anyone do random blood tests on the police to check for steroid levels, alcohol or illicit drugs ?
Something is causing this kind of hyper aggression. Time to start searching for possible causes IMO.

I remember from my younger days that the personality of policemen varied as to how they dealt with offensive behavior. Some just gently, but forcibly dealt with you while others tolerated no negative behavior whatsoever and let you know it...

What is so sad to me is that some would think ANY behavior a cop exhibits is OKie Dokie... so long as it's against a person of color... no matter the age... no mater the gender... no matter the reason.

It was an exciting night with a bunch of drunken collegiate young men who all worked at the same restaurant and went back to help ourselves to some food after the restaurant had closed. We were led by an assistant manage who opened the back door with his key and we walked right in with the police right behind us. It seemed that some person living in the area was disturbed by loud voices and swearing. It was in what as known as the College Hill section of the city but not all living in the area were young students as we found out. One of the cops was extremely rough with our leader who gave him some lip and a paddy wagon was called to take us downtown. A young cop guarding us on the way was very nice and even offered us a cigarette.

Well, prejudice on the part of police worked in my favor while in the service, but that is another story...

The former officer's behavior was outrageous in my opinion. Could he have been suffering some kind of PTSD? Agree that more screening needs to be done.

What I had heard on the news was a report where they said and made sure to include the race of the people, what they claimed was the officer had come from intervening in two separate attempted suicide cases.. If this was the case, then, he shouldn't have been dispatched to the scene where these kids were soon after, he should have been off somewhere decompressing. Now this is what I heard on the news, all the details of the matter, I don't know, but, I will look for more info and report back.

April, I looked at these... if true, then you are right; he should have been off somewhere "decompressing". How do we ever know when even a trained professional of any sort goes off the norm? I knew an oncologist a long time ago who began being short and rude with hospital nurses then quit his profession altogether. He told me he couldn't take another of his patients dying.
