Thank you or not

Yes I do. And I say a special thank you when they do their jobs not only efficiently but pleasantly. I noticed something fairly recently that I had never heard back in the day. Many passengers leaving the buses now say Thank you to the bus driver. I always used to say Have a nice day or evening. My son stopped driving bus, maybe 5 or 6 years ago and he said people were doing it when he was driving.

We always thanked the pilot when we exited the plane on business trips.

When we flew into our home city it was always the custom to applaud when the wheels touched down on the runway, it used to surprise some of the out of towners, LOL!

It makes sense to thank people who keep you safe and as others have said it doesn't cost a penny to appreciate someone.

Here in England we say thank you for anything at all( sometimes too much) and ditto with the word sorry ( even if somebody else has just stood on your foot);)

Saying thank you is a good thing. A friendly thing. Those two words can make another person feel good and it's no sweat off my back. Plus, it's the polite thing to do. I thank every one. I thank my postal worker if I'm outside when he delivers the mail and it always puts a smile on his face. I thank the waiter when he brings me my food or the guy that fills my gas tank. Or, the girl that cuts my hair.

People can be rude, crude, and indifferent. Maybe a friendly word or two can balance things out a little bit. BTW, I also say, "You're Welcome." I'm not sure how "no problem" took it's place but it has. lol.

Who on this board doesn't remember being told, "Now don't forget to say thank you?"

Yes, I do say thank you. Thank you for asking. lol. :)

LOL! We could use a little more of that over here. You made me really laugh out loud. Thank you! ;)

It is the same in Canada.

I do the same thing here -- it's how I was raised -- to be courteous to others. Today in the store somebody ran into my cart and I automatically said I'm sorry, and he said oh, no, it was my fault. I dunno whether I was blocking the aisle, or whether he wasn't looking where he was going, but it doesn't hurt to be courteous and there's no sense in making a federal case out of something like that. Some people do, but it's silly.

I agree.
