That moment when you can not find your Wallet/Purse

Just now my wallet was not where it always is.
Searched for 10 minutes, where is it. Have I lost it?:(
Thinking, thinking, thinking, removed trousers last night, slung them over the bicycle.
Glance at bicycle, there on the floor, behind bicycle, on the floor is my wallet

How do you spell relief? :)

Not exactly related, but some years back my dad told his doctor, "I am always looking for my keys. Every morning, I have to go through yesterday's clothes, the bathroom, my car, and think hard about where I was when I could have put them down. Am I getting Alzheimer's disease? The doctor told him that Alzheimer's disease is not when you lose your keys. Alzheimer's disease is when you find your keys, but you don't know what they are.

...or you don't know what they're for

happened to me plenty of times.. that's a reason I don't do banking or apple-pay on my phone. I'd have a heart attack if I couldn't find my phone.. as it is if it gets lost..I just search calmly for it...

We need to have a place where the keys will always be. Every time we come home, put the keys in that place. Repetition and discipline. :)

It used to be if you lost your wallet, you lost all the cash inside it. Today, if you loose your wallet, you loose your identity, your drivers' license, credit cards, health cards, store cards. etc., plus any cash. A while back I lost my wallet at the grocery store, try to prove your identity if you don't have a driver's license.
And today, your phone is your second wallet.

I only go out with one credit card. I don’t even take my drivers license. I leave it in the car. I only take one source of ID. I’ve only lost my wallet once and it was a pain getting all my ID back so now I’m extra careful.

I lost my wallet during COVID and it was a huge headache, especially trying to get through to the bank at that time to cancel my credit cards. And I was stupid enough to have my social security card in my wallet. Big mistake.

And that first feeling of realizing that it was not in my back jeans pocket was scary and I felt very venerable because I knew that I had left my wallet on the counter where I was making a purchase and some stranger probably picked it up, which apparently did happen because the next day someone had purchased a $400 wig online using my credit card.

Now that my state recognizes my drivers license on my phone, I leave my wallet at home and use my phone for payments. I know many here don't use their phone often but I do and I am much more aware of where my phone is over my wallet. Plus if I did lose my phone, someone would have to chop my thumb off in order to use my phone. Not so with my wallet.

I would leave my wallet at home to be safe. But, then what if my house is burglarized? Maybe it would be better if I didn't use a wallet anymore. Could I stop worrying about it, then?

Whew! I do know that feeling. I'm really posessive of my purse and keys. I never leave my purse in a shopping cart for example. It's always on my shoulder, or very occassionally I've used a cross body purse.

I keep my keys in my pocket, not in my purse. I always have to know where they are.

I always keep a credit card and keys in my pocket. Only wear pants that have pockets. At home keys are on dining room table. one credit card on computer table for online purchases and the other one in envelope on night stand.

I have to hide my wallet now since my wife's nephew moved to town. He goes downstairs several times during his visit to "use the bathroom " or whatever the hell he does.

I traded in my fat wallet for a business card holder that only holds the necessities like ID, credit cards and insurance so it fits nicely in my pocket. It has mostly worked out great, but because it is small and black there have been several times it has slipped out of my gym shorts and I have had to do a thorough search to find it.

I remember several weeks ago not being able to find it and freaking out. I called Whole Foods asking if they had found it. Later I was putting trash into the bin in the garage and there it was beside the bin!

I always have certain items with me when I head out. Keys, AirPods, IPhone, glasses, water bottle and my mini-wallet. If I am missing any one of those items I immediately go into "panic" mode and do a search.

That is not good. Always being on the alert.
Some people choose that lifestyle.
Keep your wits about you every single moment he is there.

Not having something in it's usual place can see the heart add a beat or two. :)
