The ‘Sharing Adventures Together’ Thread

I was lucky enough to get to see them from Fairbanks, stunning! Hard to explain and no picture really does them justice, yours do give some idea though. Mid-winter and probably -40F, but I was outside as long as I could stand it.
Awesome. You’re right. No picture does seeing these night lights justice. It’s like the sky is ALIVE and breathing. Lol

That trip does sound magical and what a way to experience it; on camel. It sounds incredible.
I had to look up Berber cuisine .

It’s Moroccan! How exciting. I cracked up when I read the expecting Lawrence of Arabia to show up. Lol! 😂

Your adventures were really well explained.
I truly CAN imagine crying when you saw the night sky. The sky IS very moving and magical. How can we not be in awe of it? We are on just one small planet amongst an entire galaxy of galaxies. We’re a speck of sand if there could even be a comparison.

There have been two times I’ve seen really good views of the northern lights. Once when I went with my parents to Cape Breton’s Cabot Trail in late summer and another time when I went camping with friends while in Ontario and both were spectacularly magical.

Not only is the sky all lit in flourescent colours but there are waves going through it like it’s alive and moving. It’s very humbling to see.
Our skies looked similar to this.

Thanks for sharing your stories with us Jamala. That’s was really inspiring.
Glad you enjoyed it !

That sounds like an amazing adventure. Did you ride on a camel?

When I was working in Saudi Arabia I saw people riding camels on the Haj, there were even big rent a camel operations set us specifically for the pilgrimage. Didn't do it myself, I'm not Haj qualified, but it sure looked exotic to me.
Oh yes…no other transportation was available until we reached the edge of the desert area we were visiting and then we boarded a jeep to get back to town.

My husband is Egyptian, played a lot of camel polo in his youth, so he’s very comfortable on a camel. I rode horses all my life so it was not difficult for me either.

The secret is to sway with the camel, whatever it does go with it. They are amazing animals they know by your touch if you love them

An acquaintance of my wife's was killed by a camel... unfortunately a true story. Living in Florida and Louisiana much of my life I know of no one killed by shark, alligator, snake or any other wild animal. However, I do know one killed by a camel.

She must have done some harm to the camel. Obviously she shouldn't
have been around camels.

Coming back to that scent in your babbling brook Patty.
Do you have any Black Oak in your area?
This tree grows near rivers and streams and does
have a bbq sauce scent.
No. We don’t have any oak trees around here.
We had them in Ontario and I never smelled anything like that around them. In fact, this scent is definitely new to me. I’ve smelled it near the ocean, on ATV trails, railroad tracks.
Im hoping someday to figure it out.

I hope anyone who flows Facebook reads the article about Crystal Mine , CO.
We rode our ATVs there in the Spring., .
The snow runoff covered the trail in spots, in other areas the trail was narrow.

The ride was worth seeing the mine.
We rode to the village & chatted with some of the folks who were living there.

Even though the trail was narrow,, we saw some one in a Jeep SUV.

In our travels 'out west' we have seen old cabins,, mining camps.
Abandoned railways, smelters build of rocks,, I thought it was an Indian hut!

Its been a wonderful experience to see the wilderness on our ATVs.

Granted we've had our problems , breakdowns,, getting stuck,, we always managed to get our selves out of mud holes.
Fix flat tires along the roadside.

We won't be going with our son on his upcoming travels to Colorado this coming week.

The three of us went to most of the places from where pictures were taken.
I usually rode in the back seat & missed some of the names .

Pictures of us ,, son took.
Son & I tried to out do one another taking pictures.
I’m sorry that I never kept up with this thread. I missed all this. How long were the trips you took? Did you have trailers for the ATV?
Did you stay at motels or hotels at night? How often did you do these trips? How many people in total went altogether? Did you eat at restaurants or bring your own food?

Abandoned railways and mining camps sound very exciting. Travelling by ATV is very adventurous and something I haven’t done much of. I’ve only had short trips on an ATV as well as snow mobile rides. Nothing at all like you’ve done. Break downs must have been a bit troublesome but that type of stuff happens. Getting stuck in mud I can definitely relate to.

That last picture you posted…. Is that the side of Mount Rushmore? That window in the rock looks amazing. I didn’t realize this angle even existed. How exciting this must have been.

Where is the second picture taken of the woman on the horse?

The picture of the flags in front on Mount Rushmore is a fabulous photo.
Adele did I live performance at a fancy place overlooking Mount Rushmore. It was a spectacular show. Very classy.

Thank you for sharing your photos and adventures with us. I’m so sorry I missed all this.
