The Archbishop of Canterbury resigns.

I hold the Roman Catholic Church in general responsible for these reprehensible acts. With the priesthood being closed to married men, it (intentionally or unintentionally) invites men whose abusive predilections would otherwise be discovered fairly quickly.
You could be right StarSong, but the Archbishop of Canterbury,
is not a Catholic, he is "Church of England", formed by the order
of Henry Vlll, I believe, it is still a Christian Church, based on the
Catholic Church, who wouldn't give the king a divorce, so he had
his own religion start, who could give a divorce.

Mike.

I beg your pardon. Of course he would be Church of England. I'm so accustomed to church bishops, archbishops and the like as being part of the RC Church that I didn't think any further.

Nevertheless, scum is scum, and walls of silence provide predators cover for their nasty, self-serving deeds.

He should have resign. Now he should be rightly punished! But that probably won't happen. It really ticks me off that children have been abused and the perpetrators received a slap on the wrists (if that) because they are dressed in "holy" garb. Some of the priests were "reassigned", where they no doubt got to continue their vile, predatory behavior.

A few years ago, I found out the abuse had taken place in a cathedral in my neighborhood. It made it seem all the more "real" and horrible. A man who had been abused as a child killed the pedophile priest. I'm sorry, but I ain't even mad at him (as the saying goes), though I don't advocate taking the law into one's own hands. However...if it had been my child.........!!
