Another great bargain from my local library's 20 cent table: Margaret Truman's "Murder at Ford's Theatre" (2002).
Although the story line about the murder of a Senator's intern is riveting, even more interesting are the detailed descriptions of ongoing politics, the mention of a "Lincoln" study (Abraham Lincoln was shot by Booth at the Ford Theatre), the neglect by two high profile professionals of their only son.
Maybe only the daughter of one of America's well-known presidents would have been capable of providing such detailed insights (Washington DC).

Bet you're all too young to remember Pres. Truman and daughter Margaret!
I remember vividly Margaret Truman playing the piano; so surprised many years ago picking up one of her mysteries while traveling on the Rhine and staying in Bingen.

I not only remember them but I recall the time a critic badmouthed Margaret's singing. Here is the little reminder story.

That's not the only comment Truman made regarding a critic of his daughter's playing. He called one critic an sob and remarked if he come over he"'d punch him in the nose. I don't remember Margaret writing books but there's much I don't remember.
 
Another 20 cent bargain, having to do with digging up relics: "The Last Secret of The Temple" by Paul Sussman, (2005).
The murder has already occurred in the first 20 pages or so, but still 820 pages to go!
Will I last? Don't know!

I would like to send my deepest apologies and a chocolate Easter Bunny to those I have offended by placing "Bargains" in the wrong cate:chocolate:gory.
 
Cheap enough for a readable book.
