The Battle for Mosul has started.

Yes, the people caught in the middle suffer immensely. One can only hope that their liberation brings them comfort...
 
Will it stick. How long before the next group, faction or country takes over these places again.

Holding and building a peace has proved to be much tougher than using military tactics especially in that region of the world.
 

Something we can't even imagine...being trapped with your neighborhood being under fire...but there is nowhere to run that isn't being bombed as well...you wish you could help them all.
 
There is nothing new under the sun.

At one stage my Sunday School class was looking into the fall of Jerusalem to the Romans in AD 70(?) We were reading from a translation of Josephus' account.

The Romans had the city besieged and were calling on the inhabitants to leave the city and surrender. The religious zealots inside the city were killing anyone they caught attempting to escape.

This whole situation in Mosul is destined to be a disaster, but I think it must be done. My heart is heavy at the thought.
