……..“The bills they keep coming” Savannah said, estimating 300 medical insurance claims filed for Casey related to COVID-19.

One document, an itemization of hospital services, shows the total amount of care before adjustments was a staggering $3.4 million. Of that, nearly $900,000 was deemed the total amount for hospital services. But after discounts and insurance, the Grays said their responsibility is about $9,000.

Still a hefty price tag for Savannah, a teacher, and Casey, a youth minister………………….

IMO, this is a good example of why we need to move towards some form of universal coverage or Medicare for all and include the cost of healthcare in our taxes.

The thing that shocked me in this video was the family with no money that chose to spend $15,000.00 on a funeral.

In my area, it's still possible to get a no-frills cremation with a dignified service for around $1,000.00.

Unfortunately most of these items that makes the news all have one thing in common ........ A go fund me page.

I know that may sound callous but there are many other people experiencing similar situations but they did not set up a page....
It is often the case even if they are trying to make a point ...
you are correct that 15k for a funeral seems a bit out of reach with no money.

the minute the line "a go fund me page and link appear" it takes away from any themes in story.... i scan down to bottom or end of video on many because of that.
Like so many tragedies before someone will fake it to be funded .....
