This evening, after supper, I flipped through the channel guide, and found this old movie....from 1957. I turned it on, and quickly became fascinated...managed to stay awake through the entire movie. I had heard of that movie when I was growing up, but never saw it. It swept the Academy Awards in 1958, and I can easily see why.

oh one of my all time favourite films... the music, Colonel Bogey March always makes me well up....

This one is definitely worth watching IMO. I haven't seen it on TV for some time though so I'm going to look into buy the DVD and perhaps other similar movies. Enjoy watching these "oldies" much more than many of the others that Hollywood has produced in recent years.

The movie was a far stretch from the real story. I too have watched it several times. Great cast especially Guinness and the Japanese camp commander.

It was one of my dad's favorite movies. I can still hear the whistling in my head.
